Introduction
Social-emotional learning (SEL) represents an educational model for improving the social-emotional competencies of all students and is known as a long-term education program connecting school, family, and community (Elias, Zins, Weissberg, Frey, Greenberg, Haynes, et al., 1997)
SEL promotes five core competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making (CASEL, 2015). Further, Elias (2014) said that By improving those competencies, children, and adolescents facilitate their prosocial behaviors, positive social relationships, and academic achievement, as well as reduce conduct problems and emotional distress.
Teachers can carry out some activities to integrate the five core competencies of SEL in the classroom. Please read or download the pdf below to learn about those activities.
